AMM All-Stars return to the Resonance FM Studio in Borough, South London, to lay down further tablets of the New Music which, in the words Michael Tencer (written to be read by Ben Moran Healy at the No Peace In The Park Psychedelic Bolshevik Day School held in Norfolk Park, Sheffield in June 2017) “is an in-your-face dialectical approach to life that cleaves apart the gears in the smooth functioning of the miserabilist machine and presses together the parts that rationality never intended to meet. It is not a style or art movement, or inherently artistic, musical or even particularly avantgarde. It’s both a collective experiment in living and a philosophy of the individual.” Peter Baxter – tabletop percussion; Out To Lunch – graphic poems (“Wipe the Loop Epistrophe”, “Riot Toughed Anything”, “When No Justification Juice”, “Flip Tip Pilfer Pit”), mouthnoise, piano, mixing desk, soundfiles; Dave Black – electric guitar; Paul Shearsmith – trumpet, binderphone, squeakers. Studio set-up by Erik Lintunen. Soundfiles by Len Massey (synth), Jair-Rohm Parker Wells (“Panning Resonance for Resonance”), John Plant (“Sutra on the Feast of St Jerome Emiliani”) and James Wilson/Ashley Cross (“Object 3 (Woof Effect)” Gravity of Tonic, 2017). Halftime was marked with “People Who Criticize” by James Brown, a track from his 48th LP, Mutha’s Nature (Polydor, 1977).
